Hainault Vineyard was established in Bickley in 1978 and is still the highest altitude vineyard in Western Australia. Lyn and Michael Sykes purchased Hainault in 2002 and have continued to produce a range of premium quality wines to be proud of.
All of their vines are hand pruned and the fruit is hand harvested, enabling them to select only the best fruit for their wines. Along with their well-known Sparkling Pinot Noir, they grow Gewurztraminer, an aromatic German grape, from which they make a semi sweet wine that they call Forest Fruits. Other varieties include Semillon, Chardonnay, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. Teh Classic White is made from a blend of Semillon and Chardonnay. Hainault wines have won many awards at wine shows including the Perth Hills Wine Show, Swan Valley Wine Show and Qantas Mt. Barker Wine show. The current vintage of Sparkling Pinot Noir (Methode Champenoise) was just awarded the Trophy for Best Sparkling Wine at the 2009 Perth Hills Wine Show.
