Hugh is regarded as the black sheep of the family who marches to the beat of his own drum. Hugh has a clear vision about the way that he sees wine and produces accordingly. Vines on the original property date back to the 1940's, saved from the vine pull scheme by Dr John Possingham in 1980. Possums Wines were established in 2000, prior to this date the grapes were sold on contract to neighbouring McLaren Vale producers. Possums Wines are produced on site by South African winemaker Pieter Breugem.

Priced from $12.50/bottle. The Petrucci family has been operating its vineyards in McLaren Vale for over 30 years, selling grapes to various leading wineries. Since 1999, the family has released wine under the Sabella Vineyards label. In December 2009, Sabella Vineyards' 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon won the prestigious AWBC George Mackey Trophy for the most outstanding export wine of 2008/09, edging out the 16,000+ other wines the Australian Wine and Brandy Corporation wine inspectors tasted in 2008/2009 as part of the export evaluation process.

G'day there,
I've crafted these wines from my absolute faith in their varieties and styles, and from my love of the cool Adelaide Hills where they are grown. They are modern and non-conventional, they are our future. From my experiences at home and internationally, I have applied traditional and current winemaking and maybe some thinking from a little beyond, as well.
