The Islander Estate Vineyards was established by Bordeaux-based winemaker Jacques Lurton in 2000. After making wine in 25 wine regions across 10 countries around the world, Jacques selected a farm near Parndana, Kangaroo Island and planted a diverse vineyard in the schist and clay soils. Kangaroo Island is often described as "Australia's Galapagos" and is an island of immense natural beauty. Its rugged isolation provides an ecological haven for wildlife while the island's ample sunshine, offset by constant cooling maritime breezes, helps create an ideal environment for grape-growing. Spent six to eight weeks on skins to complete primary and malolactic fermentation before being basket-pressed; thereafter three years in demi muids, the only addition SO2 (no acid). Exceptional crimson hue; bright red fruits, bramble, savoury tannins in excellent balance, oak adding to the package.

Gleaming yellow-green, barrel fermented in French oak demi, but has in no way, shape or form lost finesse or freshness. The fruit & oak are seamlessly fused together, lemongrass & spice awaiting the arrival of a touch of honey down the track; it is the quality and balance of the soft acidity that holds the wine in the palm of its hand.

The Red 2016 is the eighth release of our house red and continues to showcase the best cool climate Shiraz from Kangaroo Island. On the nose, you will find notes of toasted vanilla and soft black cherries with a hint of stewed plums and mulberries. It's supple and well balanced on the palate, with fine integrated tannins and a generous round mouth feel, leading to a long lingering finish.

The White 2017 is the sixth release of our house white and continues to showcase the best from South Australia. This contemporary Chardonnay is light gold in colour and shows mild peach and melon aromas supported by subtle oak notes. On the palate it is rich and full with fruit sweetness offset by steely, refreshing acidity, leading into a long lingering finish.
