Punt Road Wines is located on the Napoleone family property in the Yarra Valley, an hour east of Melbourne. Everything we do comes from this one piece of dirt; ideas are born here, all fruit is grown here, and everything we make is crafted, bottled, and shared on site. Winemaker Tim Shand selects fruit from over 150 acres of estate-grown vineyards on our 300 acre farm. We’ve planted several varieties over the past 27 years to best suit this site including Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, Gamay Noir, Pinot Noir, Shiraz, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. We only produce wines from our own vineyard in Coldstream, a deliberate, and to us, significant decision. It gives us the opportunity to put all our focus on our one patch of dirt and provides us with a greater understanding of our site along with 13 vintages of cellar memory to draw on. Produced from 100% Yarra Valley fruit. Fermented in a combination of stainless steel fermenters and open pots, a number of winemaking techniques were used to give complexity including cold soaking, whole berries, warm fermentation temperatures, gentle pressing, and 8 month maturation in seasoned French oak. Dark cherry and spice aromas with underlying earth and forest floor characters. Medium bodied with lively red cherry, plum and spice flavours, a lingering finish and fine tannin structure.

2014 Airlie Bank Chardonnay (RRP $19.00)
Made from 100% Yarra Valley fruit. The grapes were crushed, racked and then gently pressed prior to fermentation. A portion of the juice was then transferred to seasoned French oak for fermentation & maturation. The balance remained in tank to preserve the primary fruit characters. Varietal aromas of green melon and citrus fruits are complemented by subtly integrated barrel ferment character. Flavours of citrus and stone fruit are supported by a creamy mid palate softness and crisp finish.

The NV Airlie Bank sparkling is a blend of 64% Chardonnay and 36% Pinot Noir - sourced from within the Yarra Valley. Small portions were barrel fermented and given extended time on lees to build texture and complexity.

A medium-bodied wine exhibiting intense varietal aromas of mulberry, plum and violets. 2013 Punt Road Shiraz
2013 Punt Road Shiraz (RRP $29.00)
2013 was an excellent vintage in the Yarra Valley. The mild, dry conditions allowed for a long and gentle growing season. The result is fragrant and aromatic with aromas and flavours of white pepper, black fruit and spice. These characters are complemented by savoury fine grained French oak tannins, which give length and structure to the wine. Bottled under screw cap, this wine will reward cellaring for at least 8 years.

2014 Punt Road Pinot Noir
2014 Punt Road Pinot Noir (RRP $29.00)
Handpicked and destemmed but not crushed, then gently transferred to small open vessels for fermentation. Regular plunging throughout fermentation to extract colour and flavour , lightly pressed and then matured in a variety of French oak barrels (25% new). A bright red colour with an aromatic bouquet of dark cherry, spice and some earthiness. The palate is vibrant yet still restrained and elegant with flavours of red berry and spice leading to long fine tannins on the finish.

2014 Punt Road Chardonnay
2014 Punt Road Chardonnay (RRP $25.00)
An elegant, balanced Chardonnay. Carefully hand-picked and whole bunch pressed. A portion of juice run off into barrels for wild fermentation. 10 months maturation in French oak (25% new), some barrels regularly stirred to build texture and complexity. Malolactic fermentation used to offset some natural acidity and fill the palate profile. Showing fresh varietal aromas of citrus curd and zest with subtle French oak. The palate is incredibly fine and structured yet not lacking in concentration.

The Punt Road 2013 Botrytis Semillon is a luscious wine, displaying a rich golden colour with a straw hue. It has lifted aromas of cumquat, citrus peel and spices. The palate is bright and fine with flavours of orange and apricot marmalade. Fresh acidity and a clean finish has become the hallmark of the Punt Road Botrytis Semillon. It can be matched to a wide range of desserts or cheeses.
